> Le système nerveux central (SNC) est un système biologique complexe responsable de la coordination des interactions avec l'environnement extérieur et de la communication rapide entre les différentes parties du corps afin d'assurer le maintien de l'homéostasie.Bien qu'il soit très bien protégé par divers mécanismes, le SNC n'est toutefois pas à l'abri d'infections microbiennes (aiguës ou persistantes), en particulier d'origine virale.Les virus qui atteignent le SNC vont pouvoir infecter diverses cellules et participer au développement ou à l'exacerbation de maladies neurologiques.Les coronavirus humains (HCoV) font partie de ces virus.
