Cet article soulève quelques idées relatives au rapport que les sciences humaines ont développé avec le monde pratique de la gestion dans le contexte des réformes engagées dans le secteur public, plus particulièrement les transformations inspirées des principes et outils de la « nouvelle gestion publique ». Un constat est fait : on assiste bien souvent à une instrumentalisation et à une opérationnalisation des sciences humaines par le monde de la gestion. Ce texte met en garde les scientifiques contre le risque de subordonner leurs obligations scientifiques à des considérations managériales et gestionnaires uniquement. Il souligne combien homo academicus doit prendre du recul par rapport à homo administrativus, sans quoi la distance critique propre au travail scientifique n’est tout simplement plus réalisable. Finalement, ce texte est un plaidoyer pour une réflexivité critique dans les sciences humaines, seule posture intellectuelle à même de permettre aux chercheurs de travailler avec une éthique scientifique.
