A one-dimensional model of anode-supported SOFCs operating with H2-H2O-CO-CO2 was successfully developed. The aim of this model was to investigate the electrochemical oxidation rate of H2 and CO gaseous mixtures. The influence of feed gas compositions on their overall performance was discussed. Simulation results showed that the electrochemical oxidation rate of H2 was 1.1-2.6 times for 800°C and 2-2.6 times for 1000°C greater than that of CO for an equal amount of H2 and CO. When the amount of CO increased in the feed gas, the cell voltage and power density declined. The effect of fuel composition on the cell voltage and power density is more significant for 1000°C than those for 800°C.
