Abstract

This paper studied the statistical feature of users in online social network using MicroBlog as an example and attempted to characterize the distributions of followers, followings and tweets by analyzing the behavior of users who participate in the topic. We found that the three parameters have displayed different impacts for the spread of the topic. According to this finding, information diffusion model based on user characteristics is developed by including another factor, time delay. This model is built based on user characteristics, while the traditional research focuses on topological characteristics with MicroBlog. It has been verified that the developing trend of the topic can be well predicted by the proposed model in MicroBlog, which matches well with the real situation. This model could be a certain reference for guiding the Internet public opinion.
