Abstract
Avant de se savoir atteint du VIH, Robbert Fortin écrivait déjà sur le thème de la mort. Sans pour autant tenter de faire de son sida l’objet de son écriture, l’art devient alors pour lui le moyen de laisser une trace – une trace vivante – d’un « je » énonciateur aux prises avec un corps devenu étranger parce qu’il porte en lui la mort. À travers l’étude des trois recueils qui forment la « Trilogie des Amériques et de l’Ailleurs » d’une oeuvre totalisant déjà huit publications, nous suivrons ce parcours de la confrontation à l’acceptation de la mort jusqu’à sa renaissance par les écritures poétique et picturale. Ce faisant, nous montrerons comment il est fondé sur le refus de se détacher du corps menacé et comment ce parcours permet au « je » de renaître, de continuer d’exister en faisant corps avec la nature.
