Développement d’un modèle de prédiction de la déformation permanente considérant les propriétés physiques du sol d’infrastructure

Abstract

La déformation permanente de la couche du sol d’infrastructure d’une chaussée accumulée lors de passage des charges cycliques est due principalement aux mécanismes de post-compactage et de plastification selon une étude de la National Cooperative Highway Research Program en 2004. L’objectif de la recherche décrit dans cet article est de développer une corrélation entre les paramètres a et b d’un modèle puissance et les propriétés physiques usuelles du sol d’infrastructure. Les paramètres a et b sont supposés représenter respectivement le post-compactage et la plastification. La mise en évidence du lien entre les paramètres a et b et les mécanismes de la déformation permanente a été l’hypothèse fondamentale qui a permis de développer lesdites corrélations. Les données recueillies sur neuf différents échantillons de sols caractérisés et ayant subi des essais triaxiaux cycliques de déformation permanente ont servi au développement des corrélations. Une distinction a été faite de la corrélation du paramètre a pour les sols argileux et sableux. En effet, les sols argileux ayant des perméabilités à l’air plus faibles se comportent différemment lors du post-compactage comparé aux sols sableux. En revanche, une seule corrélation a été développée pour le paramètre b, car le comportement observé semble similaire pour les sols argileux et sableux. Les deux corrélations obtenues ont des coefficients de détermination d’environ 0,6. Aussi, la comparaison entre la déformation permanente mesurée et celle prédite a été faite sur l’argile de St-Narcisse et le sable de Fossambault. Les résultats obtenus sont globalement satisfaisants, malgré un cas d’écart constaté. [Traduit par la Rédaction]
