Abstract
RESUME. Cet article propose un modele professionnel dans lequel l'enseignement scolaire se caracterise par le service qu'il rend a l'eleve dans son accomplissement comme personne morale. La premiere partie analyse l'ethique sous-jacente a trois modeles professionnels du XXe siecle: les modeles de mission sociale, de therapie et des affaires. La deuxieme partie propose un modele professionnel inspire de la pensee personnaliste. L'ensemble de cet article repond a une question fondamentale: Quel ideal de service ou quelle ethique convient a la profession enseignante? WHAT IS THE IDEAL OF SERVICE FOR THE TEACHING PROFESSION? ABSTRACT. This article proposes a model of teaching as a professional activity characterized by the service it provides for the student in his or her development as a moral person. The first section analyses the ethical bases of three twentieth-century models of the profession: the social model, the therapy model and the business model. The second section proposes a professional model centered on the person. This article answers a fundamental question: what ideal of service or set of ethics is appropriate for the teaching profession?
