Abstract
Partant de l’idée selon laquelle l’éclatement ne prend son sens qu’au regard d’une unité antérieure, l’auteur pense que celle-ci est à rechercher dans la problématique du contrôle social. C’est donc à une étude généalogique de cette analyse unificatrice de l’appréhension du social qu’il nous invite, à l’aide d’un travail qui envisage, de manière plus complexe qu’il n’est coutume de le faire, l’émergence et le déclin de ce type particulier de montage mi-théorique mi-politique qu’a été le contrôle social. L’argument central de l’article est que l’actuel discrédit de la notion n’est pas à interpréter seulement à partir de l’affaissement d’une idéologie politique contestataire, mais d’abord comme symptôme d’une crise plus générale qui touche aujourd’hui tous les secteurs où l’État intervient sur la société, à partir de la mise en cause de la problématique de l’intégration qui a fondé notre conception du social.
