Briefing: Continuous-flow RF–oxidation system for dairy manure treatment

Abstract
A newly designed continuous-flow radio-frequency oxidation system for treating dairy manure slurry was evaluated. The suitability of the treated liquid dairy manure for struvite (MgNH4PO4·6H2O2) production and for use as liquid organic fertiliser was examined. The results indicated that the radio-frequency oxidation system was very effective for treating dairy manure; approximately 73% of the total soluble phosphorus, 48% of orthophosphates and 32% of soluble chemical oxygen demand were released. The resulting solution met stoichiometric equivalence requirements for the production of struvite and struvite-(K), and it also contained an excellent fertiliser value which can be used as liquid organic fertiliser.
