Abstract
Marlene Nourbese Philip was born in Tobago, grew up in Trinidad and migrated to Canada as an adult. There she studied Law and Political Science and worked as a lawyer until 1983 when she became a full-time writer. She is representative of the diasporic writing that characterizes the postcolonial literary scene.
