Abstract
Le présent article propose d’entamer une réflexion quant aux besoins des étudiants ayant un trouble d’apprentissage ou un trouble déficitaire de l’attention avec ou sans hyperactivité en vue de mieux les soutenir au cours de leurs études postsecondaires, notamment au regard des habiletés d’autodétermination. La synthèse critique d’articles scientifiques traitant de l’influence de ces habiletés sur la réussite de ces étudiants a permis d’émettre quatre grands constats : (1) il est nécessaire de démontrer des habiletés d’autodétermination pour réussir au postsecondaire, piste peu explorée par la communauté scientifique, particulièrement au Canada et au Québec, (2) il s’avère essentiel de bien circonscrire l’autodétermination en vue de mieux intervenir, (3) il est établi que, seules, les habiletés d’autodétermination ne peuvent expliquer la réussite au postsecondaire, d’autres facteurs devant être pris en compte, et (4) il demeure que la réussite au postsecondaire ne se mesure pas seulement à l’aide de la moyenne générale, mais également par la persévérance et l’obtention d’un diplôme. À la lumière de ces constats, diverses pistes de recherche et d’intervention ont été dégagées.
