Abstract
A osteoartrose (OA) do joelho esta associada a dor, rigidez articular e diversas limitacoes nas atividades funcionais. O objetivo desse estudo foi correlacionar desempenho muscular, composicao corporal, dor e funcionalidade em idosos com gonartrose. Metodos: 21 idosos foram submetidos a bioimpedância eletrica, dinamometria associada a eletromiografia (EMG) na extensao isometrica do joelho, e responderam a Escala Numerica de Dor e ao questionario de OA Western Ontario and McMaster Universities (WOMAC). As correlacoes foram verificadas atraves do coeficiente de correlacao de Pearson. A amostra apresentou 67,36 ± 4,21 anos, percentual de gordura de 40,57 ± 6,15 %, o escore geral de WOMAC de 43,27 ± 16,32 %, e a forca isometrica maxima para extensao de joelho de 19,95 ± 6,99 kgF. Dor ao movimento mostrou associacao significante com o dominio de atividade fisica (r=0,47) e geral (r=0,51) do WOMAC; dor noturna mostrou correlacao positiva significante com o dominio de rigidez do WOMAC (r=0,55), alem de correlacao negativa com os valores de slope da Frequencia Mediana da EMG (r = -0,57). Conclusao: a intensidade da dor esta correlacionada a incapacidade funcional dos individuos idosos com OA de joelho e a um acontecimento mais expressivo dos sinais de fadiga evidenciados pela EMG (Nivel de evidencia III).
