Les habiletés d’information constituent un ensemble de compétences dites transversales qui prolongent la notion antérieure de recherche en bibliothèque et s’inscrivent dans le domaine des habiletés cognitives, elles-mêmes liées aux méthodes de travail intellectuel. Ce texte fait le point sur l’évolution de la notion de « maîtrise de l’information », introduit les principaux modèles du processus de recherche d’information et identifie les signes de généralisation de ce type de formation, de l’école primaire à l’université et jusqu’à la formation des adultes.
