Inondation au Québec : étude longitudinale des effets à long terme sur la santé psychologique

Abstract
Afin d'identifier l'impact à long terme des inondations de juillet 1996 au Québec (Canada), une étude longitudinale a été réalisée huit ans plus tard auprès de 130 sinistrés et de 88 non-sinistrés. En milieu urbain, les résultats démontrent une diminution des manifestations de stress post-traumatiques et de dépression. Toutefois, des différences significatives existent entre sinistrés et non-sinistrés pour ce qui est des manifestation de stress post-traumatique et de dépression, de dysfonctionnement social, de symptômes somatiques, d'anxiété et d'insomnie. Au cours des années, ces sinistrés ont aussi amélioré le score au GHQ-28 et à l'échelle de bien-être psychologique, tout en maintenant une différence significative entre sinistrés et non-sinistrés au GHQ-28. En milieu rural, les scores au GHQ-28 ainsi qu'aux échelles mesurant la présence de symptômes somatiques, d'anxiété et d'insomnie, et de dépression sévère se sont améliorés. Aucune différence significative n'a été relevée en ce qui a trait au bien-être psychologique, à la présence de manifestations dépressives, de stress post-traumatique et de dysfonctionnement social. 35 sinistrés ont aussi complété une entrevue semi-dirigée. Les résultats révèlent que les inondations de juillet 1996 ont entraîné des répercussions majoritairement positives dans leur vie personnelle, familiale et conjugale, mais principalement négatives concernant leur vie professionnelle et leur santé.
