Abstract
O artigo propõe a apresentação do conceito de carreira no lazer como uma possibilidade a partir da Perspectiva do Lazer Sério (PLS) do sociólogo canadense Robert A. Stebbins. São apresentados os fundamentos teóricos do conceito, seus elementos básicos e as contribuições de diferentes pesquisadores do lazer sobre seu desenvolvimento. As diversas formulações a respeito da carreira no lazer encontram-se predominantemente na língua inglesa, o que pode ser considerado um obstáculo para o entendimento e discussão no Brasil. Assim, o principal objetivo do artigo é o de divulgar um conhecimento científico que, embora esteja presente em contexto internacional com frequência, ainda tem pouco espaço no contexto dos estudos e discussões brasileiros sobre o lazer.
