Abstract
The Canadian Hunger Foundation (CHF), one of Canada’s oldest international development charities, suddenly and unexpectedly collapsed in 2015. This article describes the organisation’s history and achievements, and examines a series of critical missteps by board and staff, CHF’s complicated relationships with its major funders, the political economy of fundraising in Canada and a confluence of events that caused a competent and experienced development organisation, poised for success, to simply vanish.
