Abstract
Em caboverdiano, os pronomes de objeto podem ser clíticos fonológicos ou formas pronominais livres, em contextos quer acusativos quer dativos. Crucialmente, as formas clíticas são proibidas nos verbos marcados com o morfema de passado -ba. Este facto foi analisado antes (Baptista, 2002) como estando relacionado com a proibição de agrupamentos de clíticos. Assim, nesta perspetiva, -ba é considerado um clítico que, por sua vez, impede a ocorrência de outros clíticos. Um problema para esta análise é que tem de ser estipulado que -ba seja um clítico, quando não temos qualquer evidência nesse sentido. No presente artigo, propomos uma solução para estes factos do caboverdiano que é do domínio da fonologia, baseando-nos nos dois elementos seguintes, justificados de forma independente: (i) uma simples regra de acento; (ii) um filtro contra a hipótese de o acento de palavra fonológica recair fora da raiz verbal. Se a nossa proposta estiver correta, ela trará suporte ao quadro teórico da Morfologia Distribuída (Halle e Marantz, 1993): os morfemas são feixes de traços abstratos (sintáticos e semânticos) que só recebem traços fonológicos tardiamente, satisfazendo nessa altura todas as regras e restrições fonológicas da língua.
