Abstract
Le roman judiciaire constitue un moment important dans l’histoire du roman policier français. Par la récurrence, au fil des récits, du même enquêteur, les auteurs du genre élaborent progressivement un nouveau type de pratique sérielle. Le plus connu et le mieux élaboré de ces personnages est, sans nul doute, le Lecoq d’Émile Gaboriau, qui fait son apparition dans cinq romans. On s’intéressera ici, à travers l’étude de la construction de ce personnage emblématique du roman judiciaire, aux niveaux de la communication sérielle qui entrent en jeu d’une part, et d’autre part, aux procédés poétiques de la construction du personnage au fil des romans et à l’interaction de deux types de sérialité (d’un côté les contraintes du feuilleton, de l’autre la logique sérielle du personnage récurrent et, avec lui, la mise en avant progressive de l’enquête nécessitant la conception d’un récit tendu vers le dénouement).
