Durante estos últimos años, las instituciones de enseñanza superior, es-pecialmente en América del Norte, fueron incluyendo cada vez más en los enuncia-dos de misión la afirmación de la necesidad de formar a los estudiantes en el uso de la información y para lograrlo crearon programas de capacitación con créditos. Este artículo da una descripción de la situación actual sobre la capacitación para el uso de la información en las universidades norteamericanas y contiene algunas referencias al mismo tema en Francia y Bélgica.
