Abstract
Durant l’entre-deux-guerres, le développement des commerces de danse de même que la médiatisation et la commercialisation de la musique à danser atteignent un niveau jusqu’alors inégalé dans la métropole montréalaise. En se penchant sur l’espace de danse commercial, la radiodiffusion et la phonographie, cet article regarde comment ces différentes sources de musique à danser s’articulent dans une intermédialité changeant le rapport des danseurs à la musique d’orchestre et modifiant l’organisation des nuits dansantes.
