Abstract
Originaire des environs de Meaux (c’est en tout cas ainsi que l’on identifie désormais le Castellum Melcis), Pirmin mena une intense activité missionnaire en Alémanie dans le second quart du VIIIe s. Il fonda la Reichenau en 724 avec le soutien de Charles Martel ; il connut ensuite quelques difficultés et quitta le monastère pour fonder Murbach, puis Hornbach où il mourut le 3 novembre 753.
