Abstract
Parmi les journaux comiques les plus en vue du xixe siècle, l’hebdomadaire Tintamarre occupe une place de choix. Ses fers de lance, Jean-Louis Commerson et Eugène Vachette, s’adjoignent les services imaginaires de l’écrivain de papier Joseph Citrouillard, qui va rapidement se révéler l’un des contributeurs les plus fidèles du Tintamarre et le sujet de nombreux articles. C’est, dès lors, une double logique sérielle qui se développe autour de Citrouillard, à la fois canular auctorial et antihéros populaire. Cet article interroge les implications et les effets de cette double casquette fantaisiste en ce qui concerne la logique interne du journal et le développement en son sein d’une poétique parodique spécifique, mais également en matière d’institutionnalisation d’une forme de mystification littéraire.
