Cette recherche a pour but d’analyser les effets de l’approche socioconstructiviste sur la compréhension de la grammaire anglaise par des étudiantes et des étudiants au niveau collégial, à Shawinigan, dans la province de Québec. L’enseignant-chercheur au coeur de cette recherche tentera d’analyser sa propre pratique professionnelle à l’aide d’une autoscopie et aussi à l’aide de questionnaires d’appréciation acheminés aux étudiantes et aux étudiants d’un groupe cible en anglais de base. L’idée de faire ce type de recherche s’est formée lorsque l’enseignant-chercheur a remarqué que les résultats obtenus suite à la passation d’examens de grammaire étaient souvent inférieurs à 60 %, peu importe l’enseignant donnant le cours. L’enseignant voulait donc tenter de comprendre si l’approche utilisée lors de l’enseignant de la grammaire a une influence sur la compréhension des étudiantes et étudiants et si oui, ce qu’il pourrait faire pour améliorer sa pratique. Cette recherche porte donc un regard critique et réflexif sur la pratique professionnelle de l’enseignant-chercheur, en tentant de surcroit de faire preuve de la plus grande objectivité possible, afin que les résultats d’analyse soient justes et véridiques. Cette recherche, bien que menée dans un milieu collégial, n’est pas restreinte à ce type de milieu et est tout à fait transférable dans des milieux primaires, secondaires et universitaires.
