Abstract
Le présent article analyse deux ouvrages pour la jeunesse à teneur coloniale, publiés en Belgique dans les années 1930, Tante Julia découvre le Congo (Roger Ransy, 1932) et Jeannot gosse d’Afrique (Jeanne Maquet-Tombu, 1935). Offrant une vision interne du Congo belge, l’un et l’autre s’attardent sur le quotidien mais avec des perspectives contrastées où l’image et les représentations de l’étranger et de l’ailleurs en disent beaucoup sur la définition collective de soi, à savoir celle de la Belgique comme puissance coloniale.
