A new control algorithm for three-phase dual-bridge matrix converters using a discrete-time sliding mode approach associated with the space vector modulation technique is developed. Hence after reporting the system model into a d-q reference frame, the theory of discrete-time sliding mode control is used to design the opportune switching functions, and next robust reaching laws are applied to determine the control laws aiming at maintaining the line currents in phase with the source voltage. In a second step, the SVM technique is used to synthesize these control laws as well as the space vector for the output voltages. The simulation results have confirmed the high performances of this control strategy which shows better response than conventional modulation schemes in terms of the unity input power factor operation as well as reduced oscillations during transient conditions
