Dans la perspective de ce dossier, qui vise à saisir les contours de la rupture littéraire de la décennie 1940 et qui réinterroge les « classiques », mais aussi et peut-être surtout les manifestations trop souvent considérées comme illégitimes par la critique, cet article s’intéresse à la culture féminine qui se déploie alors dans l’espace urbain. Se basant sur des dépouillements de la grande presse de l’époque et sur l’interprétation de nouvelles données statistiques et géolocalisées, l’analyse cherche à cartographier les trajectoires, les réseaux et la production des femmes de cette génération, hors des institutions et en marge du champ restreint. Elle permet ainsi de jeter un regard neuf sur la constitution de l’offre et des publics populaires dans la première moitié du xx e siècle, et pose les bases d’une réflexion sur l’émergence d’une culture moyenne.
