Abstract
Innovative improvements are taking place in Canadian airports due to changes to the security screening process by the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA). As a result, passenger service is benefiting. CATSA is better able to serve the needs of diverse passenger groups, as well as increasing the number of passengers and bags screened per hour at security checkpoints, without compromising security. Details of the program are presented in this article, including pre-approving certain travellers; new procedures for screening at the metal dectectors; automated boarding pass verification; educating passengers; and building partnerships and alliances.
