Abstract
Resumen El agua de la muerte is a crime fiction novel written by José Antonio Nieto Solís that brings out the endemic ills affecting Spanish society. Its omniscient narration, journalistic style and jumps back in time invite the reader to participate in the investigation and develop a close link to the social reality that is portrayed. The author draws on classic formulas and incorporates new elements to successfully create interwoven plots that are entertaining and committed, catching the reader and forcing him/her to reflect on his/her own reality, and on current social and political affairs. Among them, stand out the leading role that the female subject has in the plot, as well as the suggestive metaphor of the poisoned water, which effectively conveys the idea that economic and political corruption affects all of society. Abstract El agua de la muerte es una novela criminal escrita por José Antonio Nieto Solís que saca a la luz los males endémicos que aquejan a la sociedad española. Su narración omnisciente, su estilo periodístico y el juego de saltos temporales mediante analepsis invitan al sujeto lector a participar en la investigación y lo vinculan directamente con la realidad social retratada. El autor recurre a las fórmulas clásicas y a elementos novedosos para lograr un entretejido de tramas entretenidas y comprometidas que atrapan al sujeto lector y lo obligan a reflexionar sobre su propia realidad y la actualidad política y social. Destacan el protagonismo que tiene la mujer en la novela y la sugestiva metáfora del agua envenenada, que transmite con gran efectividad la idea de que la corrupción económica y política alcanza a toda la sociedad.
