Abstract
L’objectif de l’étude était d’examiner, chez des élèves de première secondaire (n = 295), la relation entre leurs biais d’autoévaluation de compétence relatifs à l’orthographe grammaticale et leur performance, en tenant compte de leur sexe. Nous avons administré une dictée permettant d’obtenir des scores de performance en orthographe grammaticale, un questionnaire d'autoévaluation de sa compétence dans ce domaine et un test mesurant les habiletés scolaires (Otis-Lennon). Le résidu de la régression de la perception de compétence sur le score d’habiletés scolaires correspond au biais d’autoévaluation. Les résultats montrent que le biais d’autoévaluation et le sexe de l’élève expliquent 18,3 % (variable accord ) et 7,8 % (variable infinitif ) de la performance en orthographe. Ces résultats renforcent l’idée selon laquelle l’apprentissage de l’orthographe ne relève pas uniquement du système cognitif, mais plutôt d’une interdépendance entre ce dernier et le système affectif et motivationnel de l’apprenant.
