The 27 th ACM Conference on Hypertext and Social Media was held in Halifax, Canada, from July 10 to 13 hosted at the campus of the Dalhousie University. The General Chairs were Professor Dr. Jamie Blustein and Dr. Eelco Herder, Complemented by the Program Charis Professors Dr. Helen Ashman and Dr. Jessica Rubart. The conference provided one day of workshops and three main conference days. Apart from the regular research tracks, HT'16 also featured an intersting creative track. HT'16 was collocated with UMAP 2016, the 24 th international conference on User Modeling, Adaptation and Personalization. This newsletter article briefly describes the conference and also the venue, based on the authors' personal perspectives.
