( Can J Anesth . 2015;62:1308–1312) Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) is a rare connective tissue disorder that has 6 major subtypes; it displays diverse symptoms. This syndrome poses a host of challenges in parturients. It causes hypermobility, pelvic pain, preterm delivery, perineal lacerations, and postpartum hemorrhage. Patients with vascular type EDS are susceptible to vascular and visceral fragility. Obstetricians and anesthesiologists face significant challenges in managing both vaginal and cesarean deliveries. The case report discussed the care of a woman who was diagnosed with hypermobility type EDS.
