Abstract
Zusammenfassung Ende März 1998 wurde in der Pferdeklinik Burg Müggenhausen ein beim Springen gestürzter 14-jähriger Wallach mit einer hochgradigen Genick-und Halssteifheit vorgestellt.In der Klinik wurde mit der digitalen Röntgentechnik eine Fraktur des Dens Axis diagnostiziert.Nachuntersuchungen nach drei Monaten Boxenruhe und nach weiteren sechs Wochen zeigten ein klinisch unauffälliges Pferd, aber röntgenologisch keine Knochenheilung.Trotz Aufklärung des Besitzers über die nicht vollständige Ausheilung, eventuelle Folgeerscheinungen oder Rückfälle und sogar die Möglichkeit des plötzlichen Todes des Patienten, wurde das Pferd trainiert.Ein Jahr später wurde der Patient wieder erfolgreich im Turniersport eingesetzt.Bei der abschließenden Untersuchung im April 1999 war der Frakturspalt röntgenologisch geschlossen.Der Patient ist bis heute beschwerdefrei.
