Le présent article se propose de faire une analyse sémiotique du parcours figuratif de la femme noire dans la bande dessinée africaine Aya de Yopougon de M. Abouet et C. Oubrerie. Cette bande dessinée aborde implicitement la question de la responsabilité énonciative de la femme africaine en tant qu’acteur discursif dans le neuvième art. Nous montrons notamment comment la construction identitaire de cette dernière se faire progressivement au fil des tomes (1 à 6) pour aboutir à un figure linguistique autonome et complète. Cela est rendu possible à travers la segmentation cohérente du récit qui permet de dégager les différentes phases de son processus d’élévation sociale. Ce dernier part notamment de l’altérité qui la pose comme inférieure aux hommes, pour ensuite lui permettre de se découvrir en tant que personne entière. Ce qui en fin de compte contribue à définir son identité sociale, du moins dans la bande dessinée. Une identité qui contribue à poser cette bande dessinée comme un récit engagé qui voudrait, à sa manière convaincre les lectrices africaines à penser autrement leur être dans la société.
