Abstract
En fixant le lieu, la date et le cadre de la création, la commande d’une oeuvre nouvelle peut constituer la consolidation d’un travail artistique et d’une collaboration intellectuelle de plusieurs années entre le compositeur et l’interprète. Tel est le cas de la Sequenza xii pour basson de Luciano Berio (1925-2003), dédiée au bassoniste français Pascal Gallois. Créée au Théâtre du Châtelet à Paris le 15 juin 1995, cette oeuvre émerge lentement au cours d’un processus de maturation technique et musicale ayant commencé en 1990, où le compositeur et l’interprète s’entraînent mutuellement dans une dynamique de créativité partagée. S’appuyant sur des documents d’archives et sur une série d’entretiens avec Pascal Gallois, l’objectif de cet article est de retracer le processus de création de cette Sequenza afin de montrer de quelle façon le moment de la commande officielle de la part de l’Ensemble intercontemporain concrétise l’engagement artistique entre un virtuose et un compositeur au sommet de son art.
