Abstract
Cet article s’intéresse aux stratégies déployées par l’écrivain canadien Timothy Findley dans son roman The Wars (1977) pour, d’une part, remettre en cause les versions officielles de la Grande Guerre et des guerres, ainsi que les versions idéalisées qu’elles ont suscitées, et d’autre part, tracer des parallèles entre le champ de bataille des Flandres et le Canada. Ces stratégies sont lues en regard des stratégies mises en œuvre par un écrivain canadien, Joseph Boyden, dans Three Day Road (2005), roman qui atteste de l’importance de The Wars, et qui, lui aussi, transporte la Guerre vers le Canada pour opérer un décentrement de l’histoire en mettant l’accent sur l’expérience personnelle et celle des individus marginalisés.
