Abstract
Dans cet article, nous nous proposons de réfléchir aux représentations concernant la manière dont les langues se situent dans l’espace québécois. Pays officiellement monolingue, le Québec est, en fait, caractérisé par la coprésence de plusieurs langues: seule langue officielle, le français, y est en effet côtoyé par l’anglais et par les langues des immigrés. Cependant, les relations qui se nouent entre elles sont loin d’être simples; bien au contraire, elles évoluent et se complexifient au fil du temps. Ce sont les représentations de ces relations que nous essaierons de cerner et d’interroger à travers l’étude d’un corpus de presse québécoise menée par le biais d’une analyse discursive. Cela nous paraît d’autant plus important que la langue joue un rôle incontournable dans la construction de l’identité. Par conséquent, les représentations des relations langue(s)-espace(s) sont d’autant plus importantes à examiner qu’elles fonctionnent en tant qu’outil révélateur de dynamiques concernant les réalités sociales et identitaires.
