Abstract
Los bosques tropicales se han convertido en un area de fuerte interes en el escenario mundial debido a las continuas y altas tasas de deforestacion en el tropico y al gran numero de especies que se extingue, como resultado de la degradacion y destruccion del bosque que puede significar la desaparicion de recursos biologicos potencialmente valiosos. Estos bosques estan entre los ecosistemas mas ricos del mundo en terminos ecologicos, biologicos, economicos y sociales. Precisamente por el valor que poseen, estan surgiendo distintos esfuerzos por revertir las tendencias de deforestacion mediante la conservacion, preservacion y manejo sostenible.
