Abstract
Resumo Este artigo analisa como as práticas do estado e os movimentos de valorização cultural estão contribuindo para a mudança da identidade indígena e das práticas culturais dos povos tukano e baré no Noroeste da Amazônia. Considerou‐se como as políticas de reconhecimento e autenticidade usada pelo estado em relação aos nomes indígenas, interagem com o esforço de valorizar e revitalizar as línguas e culturas minoritárias. Demonstrou‐se que, para cada um desses diferentes grupos indígenas, tanto nas ideias quanto nas práticas culturais em relação aos nomes indígenas e as identidades apresentadas podem ser vistas grandes mudanças devido aos novos sentidos políticos aos quais são ligados.
