Le développement de l’intervention dans l’ergonomie francophone a ouvert un champ très important de connaissances sur la pratique. Au cours des dernières années, mise à part la question de l’âge peu de place a été accordée à la considération des caractéristiques personnelles dont le sexe et le genre dans les interventions ergonomiques. Sur la base d’un modèle du déroulement d’une intervention ergonomique, des enjeux, des questions ainsi que des pistes de recherche et d’action sont relevées à chacune des étapes. Il s’agit d’une réflexion sur les connaissances que nous possédons ou qui manquent pour intervenir adéquatement lorsque des enjeux de sexe et de genre sont posés. La nécessité de développer des stratégies d’intervention qui permettent d’identifier et d’éviter les situations d’exclusion des travailleuses, lors de la priorisation des situations de travail ou la mise en place des dispositifs de participation aux différentes étapes de l’intervention, est soulignée. Enfin, le concept de marge de manœuvre est utilisé, entre autres pour comprendre l’impact différencié des éléments du cadre de travail sur les capacités des hommes et des femmes à se maintenir au travail en santé.
