Abstract
L’acadie, qui fut un territoire amérindien, a été colonisée par les français assimilant leurs langues et leurs cultures. En 1713, c’est la conquête anglaise, mais pourtant une centaine d’année plus tard, c’est un drapeau bleu, blanc, rouge avec une étoile de la vierge Marie qui est choisi comme un des symboles acadiens. Patrick Olivier Meunier analyse et retrace ici l’histoire du drapeau. Sa construction identitaire est forte, comme il est souligné dans le texte, « parler du drapeau acadien revient à parler de l’identité acadienne ». Depuis 1969 il est de retour sur les terres du Nouveau Brunswick, ancienne Acadie, où il est exposé au Musée acadien de l’Université de Moncton. « L’histoire du drapeau acadien suit l’histoire de ceux qui l’ont mis au monde », ainsi découvrez son histoire.
