Abstract
Los objetivos del estudio fueron especificar un modelo de violencia de pareja, contrastar su invarianza entre sexos y especificar un modelo para cada sexo en caso de variación significativa. La Escala de Alexitimia de Toronto, la de Estrategias de Manejo de Conflictos, la de Ajuste Diádico, el Inventario de Depresión de Beck, la de Expresión de la Ira y la de Machismo fueron aplicadas a una muestra incidental de 240 participantes mexicanos. El modelo recursivo especificado tuvo buen ajuste, pero no mostró invarianza entre sexos. Con buen ajuste, victimizaión y perpetración permanecieron independientes en el modelo especificado para mujeres; y la violencia fue reactiva en el modelo especificado para hombres. Se concluye que la violencia de pareja presenta diferencia sustantiva entre sexos.
