Les romans de l’écrivaine française Christine Montalbetti font un usage étonnamment explicite de la modalisation autonymique, alors que l’énonciateur y revient constamment sur sa propre parole en pleine élaboration, témoignant ainsi d’une méta-réflexivité typique du roman de l’extrême contemporain. Cet article se consacre à l’analyse de l’ouvrage intitulé Le Cas Jekyll, texte dramatique de 2010 se voulant une version transfictionnelle du célèbre récit de Robert Louis Stevenson dans lequel l’énonciation montalbetienne fait de l’hétérogénéité constitutive du langage et du sujet l’objet même de la représentation. Ouvrage en apparence périphérique dans le corpus de Montalbetti, Le Cas Jekyll détiendrait peut-être néanmoins la clé de la poétique romanesque de cette dernière…
