V uceni a praktikach skoly Sugendo sa spajaju rozlicne naboženske tradicie starovekeho Japonska, pocinajuc pradavnou sintoistickou vierou v sily kami a uctievanim hor a vrchov, ktore boli ovplyvnene nielen buddhizmom, ale aj taoizmom a samanskými praktikami. Tato praca sa bude zaoberať skumanim tradicie Sugendo, a to najma prostrednictvom porovnania dvoch hlavných naboženských tradic v Japonsku, sintoizmu a buddhizmu. Predstavenim a skumanim zakladných ritualov a praktik skoly Sugendo si približime proces sirenia roznorodých naboženských predstav v japonskom prostredi.
