Abstract
En se fondant sur l’exemple du musée de la Céramique Adrien Dubouché de Limoges et de sa collection, le présent article tente de retracer les différents sens attribués aux œuvres extrême-orientales au cours de leurs muséalisations. Pour ce faire, il re-contextualise ce qui fut l’écrin des collections : de la tendance générale des musées industriels dans laquelle s’inscrit la création du musée de Limoges à la muséographie mise en place à l’intérieur du musée, en passant par l’histoire des collections. Au cours de ce processus, les œuvres d’art extrême-orientales ont été tantôt envisagées comme des modèles tantôt comme des objets de connaissance.
