En Haïti, l’accès difficile à des services spécialisés et la rareté des hôpitaux psychiatriques amènent l’aggravation des problèmes d’adaptation (IESM-OMS, 2011 ; Lecomte et Raphaël, 2010a; Nicolas et al.,). Certains services d’intervention tentent de répondre aux besoins complexes des enfants de la rue, comme par exemple le Centre d’accueil de Delmas 3. Au Québec, le modèle psychoéducatif guide les interventions spécialisées auprès de jeunes ayant des troubles de comportements. Le présent projet de recherche vise d’une part à évaluer si une approche collaborative favoriserait la pérennité d’un programme d’intervention en Haïti et d’autre part si le modèle psychoéducatif pourrait répondre aux besoins du milieu d’intervention du Centre d’accueil de Delmas. Pour favoriser la mobilisation des partenaires, le projet met de l’avant une méthode qualitative et collaborative (Hamel, Cousineau et Vézina, 2010). D’abord, une formation adaptée aux besoins du milieu a été présentée aux intervenants. Ensuite, l’équipe de recherche et les intervenants du centre d’accueil ont animé des activités psychoéducatives. Ce projet pilote a montré qu’une approche collaborative favorise la participation et le niveau de satisfaction de tous les acteurs impliqués. Cette expérience a également permis de constater que le modèle psychoéducatif pourrait être utilisé dans les centres d’accueil en Haïti. En effet, ce modèle permet d’adapter la réponse aux besoins des personnes selon les caractéristiques des milieux (Renou, 2005).
