Abstract
Il saggio si concentra su Tutti giù per terra (1994), Bla bla bla (1997) e Ambarabà (2000), testi che nel loro insieme formano una trilogia sulla esperienza e percezione della città nella società postmoderna. Attraverso una analisi ravvicinata e comparata, il saggio mette in risalto il mutare del fuoco tematico all'interno della trilogia, argomentando che dal binomio città/libertà – fuoco tematico di Tutti giù per terra e Bla bla bla – si passa a quello città/sicurezza, fuoco tematico di Ambarabà. La tesi che viene avanzata è che con questo mutamento tematico Culicchia rappresenta quello che, nella città globale dei nostri giorni, è diventato un vero e proprio desiderio onnipervasivo, ovvero il desiderio di sicurezza, inteso come desiderio di difesa dall'Altro. La città, che già in Bla bla bla era presentata come un tapis roulant di scenari allucinati e giustapposti, assume in Ambarabà, terzo episodio della trilogia di Culicchia, un carattere claustrale e claustrofobico e l'aria che vi si respira è quella di una libertà paradossale e negativa.
