Le Prince d’Albert Memmi est la seule tentative d’écriture théâtrale jamais tentée par l’écrivain et sociologue franco-tunisien à ce jour, et encore inédite. Dans cette ébauche, les principales problématiques ayant nourri l’œuvre de Memmi sont présentes : les rapports de domination, tout d’abord, ceux de classe, mais aussi les rapports de genres, et donc l’oppression féminine. Cet essai théâtral offre également une réflexion sur la nature du pouvoir, thématique centrale dans le roman Le Désert qui lui est contemporain. L’étude du dossier génétique propose enfin une perspective fort intéressante sur ce que doit être l’œuvre théâtrale, et sa dimension visuelle, première selon Memmi.
