Abstract
The issues of regulating the social and economic development of regions persist to be in the center of attention of governments, regional authorities and communities of all developed and rapidly developing countries worldwide irrespective of their state structure, size and level of economic development. While remaining unchanged in terms of the objectives stated, the federal policies of Canada in relation to regions have been the subject to numerous revisions in terms of applied approaches and methods. The present article gives brief description of historical background and mechanisms of cooperation between federal center and provinces/territories in Canada.
