Abstract
Profondément relié à l’institution, l’Hommage à Rosa Luxembourg de Jean-Paul Riopelle devient à la fois le marqueur de la relation intime entre l’artiste et l’institution ainsi qu’entre la production de l’artiste et l’intérêt du directeur de l’époque de son acquisition. Portée dans le discours construit par le Musée national des beaux-arts de Québec, l’œuvre devient l’objet phare de l’institution à travers sa mise en valeur, sa diffusion dans les divers médias ainsi que sa reconnaissance par de nombreux textes de spécialistes. De cet essai émane l’attachement du MNBAQ envers l’œuvre et du lien indissociable que le public fait désormais entre le musée et son objet phare, tel un emblème de l’institution.
