Abstract
El articulo repasa el surgimiento de los primeros esfuerzos hacia bases de datos compartidas por diferentes museos en la decada de los sesenta, la creacion de los primeros programas para gestion de colecciones y el desarrollo y protagonismo que fueron ganando los estandares para colecciones museograficas. El ambito de este texto se refiere a las iniciativas que se llevaron a cabo en Estados Unidos, Canada, Inglaterra o Francia. La cualidad de la web, que nos situa en un contexto global, obliga a repasar constantemente los estandares internacionales para la catalogacion.
